Vicky Bullett, a distinguished alumni of the Boys & Girls Club, joined the club in 1980 when it was still known as the Boys Club. For Vicky and her six brothers, the club was a lifeline—a space where they could channel their energy into sports, academics, and personal growth.

Memories That Last a Lifetime

From basketball to painting ceramics, Vicky embraced every activity the club offered. One memory stands out vividly: a mischievous adventure involving the club’s treat-filled safe. “We thought we were sneaky until we got stuck,” Vicky laughs. The lesson was clear—always ask for what you need. These lighthearted moments, alongside structured programs, became the foundation of her formative years.

Building a Future Through Support

The impact of the club’s dedicated counselors cannot be overstated. “They cared for us like family,” Vicky shares. “Whether it was a hug when we needed it or a firm no when we deserved it, the staff taught us life lessons that stuck with me.” Those lessons shaped Vicky into the educator she is today, committed to instilling the same values in her students.

A Commitment to Community

The Boys & Girls Club’s influence extended far beyond Vicky’s childhood. When she had the chance to play in the Olympics, her community rallied to fundraise so her family could attend. “It was a reminder of how much this place and its people give,” she recalls. Inspired by that generosity, Vicky remains a strong advocate for giving back, volunteering whenever she can.

Words of Wisdom

To today’s members, Vicky’s advice is simple yet profound: “Remember your roots. Stay connected, and when the time comes, give back.” She hopes to see more alumni return to mentor and inspire future generations.

Looking Ahead

As Vicky reflects on the club’s growth, she emphasizes its crucial role in shaping young lives. From fostering creativity in younger members to mentoring teens, the Boys & Girls Club continues to be a cornerstone for the community. Vicky hopes its mission will inspire more youth to dream big and strive for greatness.
